Your Treatment

" PhysioWays helped me tremendously "

If your condition is suitable for treatment we will advise a "course" of treatment in most cases. The actual number of sessions will vary depending on your condition and the length of time you have had the problem (averages 4-8 sessions). We will recommend the frequency with which you should attend and agree review points where necessary. A Treatment Plan will be agreed with you and you will be asked to commit to attend as advised and to take responsibility by actively participating in your own treatment.

Unfortunately there is not always a quick fix (especially if you have had the problem some time) and if you want to maximise your recovery and minimise the likelihood of a recurrence of your problem it is best to complete your course of treatment.

Treatment sessions usually combine a number of different treatment "types". Often, at the start, treatment can include manual techniques such as joint mobilisations or manipulations or muscle energy techniques (which use the muscle power to influence the joint positions) in order to gain normal movement at a joint. We may also use electrotherapy (ultrasound, interferential or TENS) to aid with pain relief. Right from the start we give postural and life style advice to minimise the risk of aggravating symptoms, and follow that up quickly with exercises to strengthen the necessary muscles to address the biomechanical faults that may have occurred over time and are likely to be contributing to the injury / pain. Over a number of sessions we restore movement and function and provide you with the means to avoid a recurrence of pain and help you get back to your normal activities through rehabilitative exercise, or to manage the pain and problems caused by chronic pain. If we are unable to get rid of your pain completely we will discuss this with you honestly.
